The University of Texas at Austin supports a variety of open access (OA) memberships, initiatives and infrastructure with the goal of creating a more sustainable publishing ecosystem for community stakeholders. That support sometimes provides direct benefits to our authors like discounts on article processing charges (APCs), fully paid APCs and free OA publishing through other means.
The University of Texas Libraries announces its participation in several new open access initiatives.
- Knowledge Unlatched – Knowledge Unlatched (KU) makes content from multiple publishers freely available to all users through pledges from libraries that commit a certain amount of funds to help make the work OA. The Libraries has pledged to several different KU collections.
- EDP Sciences – Math – EDP Sciences is publishing six math journals under the Subscribe to Open (S2O) format. See the glossary for more information on S2O. The Libraries subscribes to Open (S2O) model for six math journals
- IWA Publishing – IWA publishes on water, wastewater, and related environmental fields. The Libraries contributes to OA publishing of their journals and frontlist books.
- Sage Publishing – The Libraries has an agreement with Sage that gives the university corresponding authors the option to make their work OA without a fee in over 1000 subscription and gold OA Sage journals.
- Open Access Community Investment Program (OACIP) – A community oriented framework for supporting diamond OA journals (no fees to readers or authors). The framework makes it easier for libraries to support journals like those listed below.
- American Indian Culture & Research Journal – One of the premier peer-reviewed journals in Native American studies.
- Cultural Anthropology – Peer-reviewed journal from the Society for Cultural Anthropology.
- liquid blackness: journal of aesthetics and black studies – Peer-reviewed journal for combining aesthetic theory with Black Studies.
