2025 Affordable Education Champions Announced

The University of Texas Libraries, in collaboration with the Senate of College Councils, is proud to announce the 2025 recipients of the Affordable Education Champions award.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Dr. Theresa Martines, Department of Mathematics
  • Dr. Jonathan Perry, Department of Physics
  • Dr. Patricia Garcia, College of Liberal Arts

The Affordable Education Champions award recognizes instructors who demonstrate a strong commitment to reducing the financial burden on students by assigning free or low-cost course materials. Whether by authoring their own resources or incorporating openly licensed and affordable content created by others, these faculty members are helping

The UT Libraries and the Senate of College Councils continue to partner on initiatives that support open education practices, advance textbook affordability and promote educational equity across campus.
